When I worked in commercial production, many years ago, when one of my friends (also in commercial production) and I would watch TV and see a particuluarly lame commercial, one of us would say, “If I ever make a commercial like that, shoot me.”

I can tell I’m years past that part of my life, as now when I see a bad one, I want to smack other people. But not the production crew – they’re just making a living – but the people doing the creation. Not so much for lame ones, but for the increasing level of insulting the intelligence of the audience who, hello, you want to spend money on your product. What are you thinking?

Yesterday the CEO of Napster called buying an iPod “stupid”. And this makes me want to investigate your product how, exactly?
