I accidently bought the ‘lite’ Eggo syrup and sure enough, I think it tastes wrong. Not as wrong as when I bought (on purpose) the low fat peanut butter, thought it was okay for about a quarter of a PB&J, and then realized the product would make an excellent spackling compound, but still wrong.

This of course completely ignores the fact that the ‘original’ (and it does amuse me to call a product that is less than a year old ‘original’) Eggo syrup is completely fake, without even the 3% real syrup most of the fakes have, and has nothing unique to recommend it except the relatively spiffy stay-clean spill-proof cap and the fact that the bottle is shapped like a waffle – that is a whole longer and much longer post.
