I like Oroweat but I’m not often up for spending $3.50 for a loaf of bread unless the person selling it to me baked it themselves (hello, Great Harvest) so I was pleased to see my favorite Oroweat variety on sale for $1.48. I was immediately flooded with regret, however, that I’d just the day before bought a loaf of Baker’s Inn, which I don’t like nearly as much but hovers around $2.20 a loaf. Don’t be stupid, I said, you spend way more than that eating out too much, just get the Oroweat. No, I replied, you can’t waste a whole loaf of bread. It’s not about the money, it’s the principle. I’ll eat a lot of sandwiches, I promise. No you won’t, now shut up.

That night I opened the Baker’s Inn, took two slices out of the middle, made a pb&j, and wished with every bite I’d gotten the Oroweat. I’m not sure what my problem is, but I’m sure this is just a sign from the tiny, tiny tip of the iceberg.
